Private Lessons
Riverside teaching pro Froi Silva has been giving lessons at these courts since 1987. Originally from Bolivia, where he coached top amateur and professional players, he offers both group clinics and private instruction. Adult Group Clinics
On weeknights and weekend afternoons, RCTA hires Froi to conduct tennis clinics for adults. Skill-level categories include Beginner, Low-Intermediate and High-Intermediate. Hour-long clinics are held weekly and are available in 4-, 6- and 8-week packages. Options include four-, five- and six-person groups. The emphasis of these clinics is on hitting a lot of balls. Detailed instruction is offered upon request of participants. Participants must be RCTA members ($50.00 per year)). Prices vary depending on length of session and number of participants per group. Children's Group Lessons
Inexpensive group lessons are offered for the children (and grandchildren) of RCTA members. These lessons are designed for beginner and intermediate players from the ages of 3 to 9. These lessons are not for advanced players but are designed to create recreational players and to acquaint kids with the very basic elements of tennis; Emphasis is on fun and development of basic hand/eye coordination. Junior Ace Program For children 10 to 18 with a serious interest in tennis. This program is by recommendation and try-out. Spring and fall 2-hour after-school programs and includes match play. For more information contact Junior Program Coordinator Cathy Yee at .
Summer Camp
The RCTA has partnered with Gotham Tennis Academy, a leading operator of tennis programs in Manhattan, to offer a tennis camp this summer beginning June 13 at the 96th Street Red Clay Courts.
The camp, which in addition to tennis, will also feature field trips in Riverside Park and other fun, athletic activities, is a great way to keep your child active this summer and improve his or her tennis in a fun and supportive environment.
Whether your child is a Beginner or Advanced level player, he or she will gain confidence and learn appropriate stroke production fundamentals, strategy, match play, conditioning, and footwork during the camp. Taught by Gotham Tennis Academy's certified tennis instructors who excel at teaching junior players, the summer program is designed to take your child to the next level towards tennis proficiency.
Light snacks and beverages are provided, although we recommend that you send a bag lunch with your child.
